Walk us through your morning routine.

My morning is kind of chaotic – I have 3 kids (almost 6 years old, almost 4 years old, almost 2 years old). Every morning is getting them ready for school, making lunches and then taking them to school. Once I drop the kids off at school I will get in a workout or surf.

Do you have an exercise routine?

I try to get my workout in in the morning, but I typically need to get going a little bit. I need my coffee before working out. I typically do pushups every other day (100 to 150 push ups), 40 pull ups on the opposite day, 3 of the days I will do core workouts and then I will try and do cardio 2-4 days a week depending on my schedule. I also have a road bike that I enjoy riding when time permits. I also have a sauna and an ice bath that I use throughout the week which I really enjoy.

Do you follow a specific diet?

I do intermittent fasting. I am generally healthy during the week and if I am out to the eat on the weekends I will sometimes splurge a little. Generally a clean eater.

How many hours do you sleep each night?

7-8 hours per night. I stopped tracking it because knowing how much I slept started to mentally impact me. I try to not use my cell phone late at night or work late at night. I also stopped using my sauna and ice bath at night because I found that was impacting my sleep. With all of this being said, sometimes it still isn’t perfect because we have young kids that sometimes wake up.

You and your wife, Kiara, are both involved at Murf and a few other businesses– how has it been growing a business with your spouse?

My wife got involved once we started ramping up and she has been great. She is good at creating processes which was really important for the stage we were going through. She also now oversees the hiring, payroll and HR at Murf so she has been an integral part to our growth. We also own another business which is a Medical Spa, called Seaside Skin Care, in San Clemente where she manages about 25 people. I stepped away from that company but my sister, dad and wife are all still involved. There are a lot of great services offered — I definitely recommend trying the NAD+ IV Fusions.

Murf was launched in 2016 and has grown rapidly over the last 7 years – what do you think has contributed most to your success in this market?

When I first started I had an e-commerce business that I have since sold. I would work on Murf during the day and that e-commerce business in the morning and evenings. For all 7 years I have reinvested back into the business at Murf — during COVID we had a huge Pre-Order list which helped us grow significantly. I also never took distributions from the company which is hard to do as a business owner. I grew up with a lot of people on the team and I consider many of them some of my closest friends. I also really wanted to make sure working at Murf was a great lifestyle – if the waves are good people can go surf, if you have a surf trip planned you can just go do it. I really wanted it to be a great place to work.

Have you heard of any cool places or adventures where Murf bikes have been included?

There is this guy in Canada (Tofino) that takes his Murf to some really neat surf spots. We have a distributor down in Costa Rica that helps a lot of people find great surf spots. In Australia and New Zealand we have distributors — Josh Kerr is our Australia distributor and he has a great team out there.

If you could leave one piece of advice for someone younger, what would you share?

Have fun as much as you can.

If you are passionate about something you have to really work hard these days because everything is so competitive.

Appreciate the moment as it is because everything changes and life goes by fast.

Is there anything that you haven’t done that you still want to do?

I am pretty well traveled but there are still some waves I would like to surf before I die. I want to do more surf trips for sure. I go to Nicaragua a few times a year and want to keep those going too.
